Fewkes Huff Management athletes Sandy Mitchell, Gilles Magnus and Jake Hill more than made their mark on the world stage this past weekend (August 1-2) as the trio delivered class victories and standout performances.
Across two continents and three countries, the talented trio represented the thriving sports management business – headed up by Will Fewkes and former FIA World Touring Car Champion Rob Huff – in impressive fashion.
Lamborghini factory racer Mitchell enjoyed his strongest outing to date in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as he helped guide Pfaff Motorsports to GTD Pro class glory at Road America.
Teaming up with fellow manufacturer-backed driver Andrea Caldarelli, the Scotsman showcased his world-class racecraft at the Motul SportsCar Grand Prix by moving the team into first place with just two hours remaining.
From there, Mitchell and his Italian team-mate executed their strategy to perfection to claim not only a first GTD Pro class victory of the season, but also the first endurance race win worldwide for the new Lamborghini Temerario GT3.
Over in France, 2024 Gold Cup Champion, Gilles Magnus, enjoyed a welcome return to winning ways in the GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS as he put everyone on notice by surging to Gold Cup class victory at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours.
At the wheel of the Boutsen VDS Porsche 911 GT3 R, the Belgian ace was on the pace from the outset and produced a blistering lap in qualifying to clinch class pole position while also emerging as the fastest Porsche on the grid overall.
Magnus’ stunning one-lap pace was further underlined by the fact that he has outqualified the team’s sister car – piloted by Pro drivers – at five of the six events held so far this season.
Having secured the bragging rights of being the fastest qualifier, Magnus and team-mate Robin Knutsson went on to produce a faultless performance in the opening Sprint Cup contest, claiming a hard-fought and thoroughly deserved victory.
More than 700km away in Germany, former British Touring Car Championship title winner Hill produced another impressive showing at the Nürburgring as he joined forces with AMG driver Adam Christodoulou and Kyle Tilley to race Era Motorsport’s all-new Mercedes-AMG GT3 entry.
Returning to the iconic circuit for NLS7, the FIA Silver-graded competitor went wheel-to-wheel with some of the world’s leading factory drivers and further underlined his credentials by producing an outstanding qualifying lap to secure P2 in class and P4 overall.
Sadly, race damage sustained while running in contention for second overall meant the team were unable to take the chequered flag. However, the British racer’s impressive pace turned plenty of heads throughout the weekend.
